Sunday Morning Sermon

NOT!!!!!

Shawn was sick this morning. So I took some time to
get caught up on some things around the house while the
kids played before church. When it was (past) time to get
ready we had ponies we had to negotiate about and hair to
cry over and dinosaurs to find.

We couldn't leave without both kids
having potty emergencies and then Berklee's dress got wet in the
urine filled toilette. (I'm sick of urine already because Hayden peed
through his diaper last night and Berklee wet the bed which
are some of the tasks I was trying to get caught up on before church!)
We hit every red light on the way and got stuck behind two cars
who road side by side going 40 in a 50.
This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine!

So of course we were late to church.
Then Hayden, the boy with a dependency on routine,
freaked out when I dropped him off at his class
because, you see, this is daddy's job every Sunday
and there were two new teachers.
I left him screaming and they paged me almost immediately
after I found my seat. Typically he has a great time and I
knew it was all about the routine thing not sickness or
tiredness. So I went and threatened and spanked and negotiated.
No such luck. Into church we went for 5 minutes before his
two year old mouth could take no more.
He began blurting out questions.
"MOM, WHY ARE
YOU WRITING? MOM, WHY ARE YOU READING?"
(Our church is small and we meet in a small school-like
theater which means everything is amplified.)

So now I am standing here outside the church,
in the heat while Hayden is being forced to sit quietly against a
wall until Berklee is finished with her class.
She loves it so much I don't want to ruin it for her too.

Here Berklee is dancing during their worship time
as we are waiting, waiting.
She absolutely loves it!
And Hayden has just informed me that he wants
to go to his class now.
Good, that was the point of making you sit still
and quiet for 15 minutes!

I pray the Lord would open my eyes this morning
because I sure feel like nothing good could possibly be seen.

This is my life without the help of my husband on a Sunday morning.

I feel a little better now. Thanks for reading my rant. :)

-----Sunday Evening----

Spending a family evening at my mom's new
house made my day even better than expected!

Her awesome house wraps around this awesome pool.

And I love this tree right outside the back door.

Shawn spent the evening in the basement/theater room
watching a movie while the rest of us
grilled burgers and dogs and swam our
little hearts out!

We will now be going to my mom's
for our date nights.
Drop the kids off upstairs and
head downstairs to the theater!
