Try Some Gilad
Too Many Books, So Little Time
So, I am the type of person who always has about 4 to 5 books I'm reading at the same time. One will be in the bathroom, one on my nightstand, one in my purse, one on the dining room table.....you get the point. I don't know why this is. And if one book is proving to better than all of the others it might possibly travel with me from one room to another. I have always loved reading and was thinking last night about all of the wonderful books I have encountered over the years. I remember the first series of books I read in grade school were the "Miss Piggle Wiggle" books. I had my mom order them for me from the Scholastic Paper and was completely, utterly devistated when I left them on the bus one day never to be seen again. I also being very proud of myself for reading Dr. Doolittle in the 5th or 6th grade because it was the thickest book I had read to date. The summer after 5th grade my best friend and I had a contest to see how many books we could read. I know it was in the upper 20's. Call me a nerd, but I LOVE a good story. Through college, not so much time or interest in reading outside of textbooks but once that was over I began to find my passion again. I'm not so good with remembering authors of books but titles usually stick. Anywho, I have picked up a few good books all at one time and my heart has been torn each night deciding which to read. The first set of books have been my secret guilty pleasure. Call me a teenager, I don't care. I have been fascinated with the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyers. These are the first non-Christian fictional books I have read since high school. They are not rated R or anything I just feel guilty because it is pure fun for me. The other books I'm enjoying at the moment are "For the Children's Sake" by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay and "Captivating" by Staci Eldridge. All 3 are completely different but definitely great reads.
I guess I am telling you all of this in hopes that each person that reads this post will pick up a great book. If you need one that applies to a certain area of life just ask me. Between Shawn and I we have read tons. I have learned that I do not have all the answers and am not an expert in even one area of my life, but by reading books and applying nuggets from those who are experts I can change my life for the better. I used to believe that you are the way you are. Lazy, messy, bad with finances, low self esteem, bad communicator, anger, depression, etc...... that was who you were. Not so my friends! Christ can give you the strength and wisdom but you can CHOOSE to be something else, to change an area of your life you aren't happy with! Do you get it? None of us have an excuse just a choice! So gather some knowledge and make a change.
